Based on the 2003 Showtime Independent Film written and directed by Michael Burke, The Mudge Boy is a new musical in development. The story centers around Duncan Mudge, a teen grappling with the loss of his mother and the emotional vacuum left behind. The small town of Vermont and its inhabitants weave in and out of his journey, creating a gripping portrait of loss, acceptance, identity and what lies beneath in rural, adolescent America. The Mudge Boy addresses issues of teen and family violence, bullying, anti-gay sentiments and the voyage to identity and acceptance faced by every teenager today.
